tayfair Rowan's voice is witchy and ethereal. It was so difficult to pick a favorite track. Favorite track: Still Here.

Gabrielemenopee It's like the ocean, both placid and still and simultaneously crashing against the rocks with the combined force of every emotion in the full spectrum of the human experience.

Violet is anything but background music, and while some tracks may soothe the soul, others want to drag you by the hair til you're face to face with your pain and your devils, dancing cheek to cheek. And you can bet I will gladly take that dance!

about

Violet was written in Los Angeles, recorded in Brooklyn, and mastered in Olympia. This album was a labor of love, entirely made possible by the tireless efforts of my beloved friends, and especially by the incredible Jesse DC, who recorded and produced and engineered this entire album in his Brooklyn bedroom over the course of 2 years.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible. You, each and every one of the diverse and uniquely beautiful ensemble featured on this album are forever in my heart. I could not have asked for a better team to do this with.

This album is dedicated to Rowen Altenburger, my beautiful sister and friend. It is for our grandmothers. It is, especially, medicine for our daughters, our mothers, and our friends both young and old. Take what you need from it. Never forget what you have accomplished.

For all Violets, everywhere.
